 28 Aug Resowed broad beans in bed 4, having lost the autumn-sown crop to wireworm. Still wireworm in the bed but don't want to chemically treat it because that would kill earthworms and other wildlife. Just hope the the growth rate in spring will keep ahead of the wireworms! Also sowed Japanese turnip (2 varieties) and red breakfast radishes between the rows of broad beans. Might be too early, but we'll find out!

30 Aug Moved small lacetop hygrangea from bed 1 to top of hill to make way for building of raised bed. Started to build bed but met with accident on sawbench when cutting pegs. Spent much of afternoon at doctor's surgery!
