Title: Garnish - takes it over the top!
Submitted by: sness - June 21, 2006
1 T butter
3 T sugar
1 ½ lbs pears (I use 3 or 4) peeled, cored and sliced. (They can be ripe but I have used pretty hard pears and cooked a little longer with great success.)
Up to an hour before serving, melt butter in a medium skillet. Stir in sugar and add pears. Cook uncovered 3-4 minutes or until just tender. Stir gently. Use slotted spoon to remove slices and arrange nicely on top of pie. Pour left over juice over pears. (there’s not much juice left over usually but enough to just coat the pears.)
Makes 8 servings - which will all get rave reviews.
